Don’t Slack On Your Job Search During The Holidays

Here’s a bit of career advice that flies in the face of popular opinion: if you are searching for a new job don’t slack off during the holiday season.

A lot of people think that prospective employers close down their searches during the holidays. “That’s a huge mistake, because when companies have a need, they’re going to hire no matter what the time of year is,” says Lisa Ryan of Heyman Associates, an executive search firm.

Consider these points:

The end of the year is the time when companies are assessing their manpower needs for the future.

Every person who takes time off from their job search reduces the competition you must deal with.

Also, this is a good time to review and refine the strategy you are employing in your search, as well as your resume and covering letters.

I wish you great success in 2007!
